Speaking for Myself is a rare and insightful view of Manhattan’s creative heart, seen through the eyes and passions of eight contemporary performing artists who each consider these questions. Part biography, part performance film, this documentary’s eight portraits are created from in-studio interviews and gorgeous footage of each artist performing his/her craft.

Bert Shapiro, Director has been making documentary videos for more than a decade including Doing the Don’t: An Evening with Elliot Sharp & Friends, which examines Sharp’s journey from a would-be scholar to one of the most internationally acclaimed composers of the modern avant-garde. Loic de Lame, Director of Photography is an emerging camera-man specializing in steady-cam who lives in Lambertville.
